1. How do I sign up for the event?
You can sign up on-line or via snail mail. The sign up 2012 page has detailed information. We suggest signing up early to ensure your gift bag full of great things (value $300+) including a recycleable water bottle from Gaiam. Remember when you sign up to note the full name and email of each person you sign up. Also if you are signing up children, please note their names and ages. All correspondence is via email. Don't have an email address? Please include cell phone so we can text you.
2. What if I am a novice at yoga? Will I be able to participate?
The ritual sun salutations have modifications for everyone. Also this year for the first time, we will have chair yoga available during our yoga session so everyone no matter what ability can participate.
3. What if I can't afford a minimum $27 donation but want to come?
Global Mala NJ is opened to everyone. Donation is just suggested. Sometimes people donate $100 or $5 and sometimes nothing at all. Everyone is welcome no matter what your donation.
4. What if I don't have a yoga mat?
Please email info@globalmalanj.org and let us know. We will have a few mats on hand to lend out on event day and will make arrangements to hold one for you.
5. What should I bring to the event?
You should bring your yoga mat, a water bottle if you are not one of the first 250 receiving a gift bag, money (cash, credit card, checks) for food and shopping vendors. Note raffle tickets only accept cash or check and some vendors might not accept credit cards. Bring suntan lotion because we will be outside.
6. How do I sign up for a chair or thai massage?
After you check in there will be a table set up for chair and thai massage sign ups. We ask that you consider making a donation for this service. Massages will be given from 12:15-3pm and once you sign up, you will receive a ticket with your time slot written on it. Enjoy!
7. How do I sign up for break out session?
We will be sending an eletter out to all attendees about a week before the event with specifics on break out sessions being offered. These teachers are donating their time for this great peaceful day and as a way to raise even more money for charity, we ask that people consider a donation in the donation basket that will be placed at each break out session area.
8. Do I need to attend entire global mala event to go to break out session?
No, you are welcome to arrive at Global Mala event at the break 12:15pm and enjoy the afternoon and break out session as a walk in. You will need to sign a waiver that is required for all who are attending Global Mala event prior to participating (hey the lawyers like to make sure our t's are crossed and i's are dotted!)
9. What's the parking like at the stadium?
The stadium holds over 1300 people and we highly suggest car pooling because this is something we can all do to help the environment. There is parking all around the perimeter of the stadium. There is a lot for cars on Abington Avenue that is available for use during the event (Abington & Bloomfield), the lot at First Avenue School is available for use (1.5 blocks from the stadium) and more to come.
10. Who can come to the kids event and where will it be held?
Children kindergarten through 14 years of age are invited to enjoy the third annual kids mala at global mala event. It runs at the same time as the adult event and will be held on one of the softball fields in the enclosed stadium. All children 7 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult to the children's event.
11. How will children be kept track of at this event?
When parents sign in with their child, each child will receive both a name tag and a bracelet with a number on it. Each parent/caregiver will receive a name tag with the same number., Numbers need to be matched up in order to pick up your child. All children 7 years and younger must have an adult in attendance with them at the children's event. Also, all adults with children at the children's event will be situated at the adult event in an area that is closest to children's event, in case they are needed.
